Pernicious Prejudice is Alive and Prospering in 2009!

We meander through various venues researching ways in which people are oppressed.  On September 3, 2009, we attended an adoption support group meeting where, in our thirst for knowledge, we inquired as to the thoughts of adoptees when, in their youth, they first realized what being adopted means.  What were their reactions, their thought processes, at this most pivotal time?

An ADULT female adoptee divulged, sophomorically, "... I was told that I'm lucky; I was chosen.  My mom loved me so much that she gave me away...."

WHAT A BLATANT, IDIOTIC, LIE adoptees are told by their adoptive parents!  AN INEXCUSABLE, UNFORGIVABLE, SICK, INSULT!  A LURID SLAP!  What a catty insult to, and disregard for, the millions of vulnerable families that have needlessly lost children, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins... via adoption.  The ONLY reason that millions of families, tribes, have lost members/loved ones to adoption is because of the disgrace that their "friends" and acquaintances (society) imposed on the families of single pregnant females - and, of course, because of money and greed (adoption industry), and envy (infertile married couples - "We followed the rules and got married and can't procreate and the single slut who doesn't follow the rules is able to procreate - the unmarried wanton female gets the gifts - it's not fair)!"

At the meeting, the perspective of a mom who has lost her child to adoption was, "Infertile couples will have to find another hobby.  Single moms aren't going to supply them with kids much longer!"

Economics 101:  Whenever there is a demand, a supply will surely be wangled!

Adoption is a billion dollar industry!  The titans, that includes adoptive parents and prospective adoptive parents (the demand), finagled a way to extract children (the product) from vulnerable families (the supply) and the way that they finagled this feat was, and is, through societal trickery (mores), such as, shame, stigma, disgrace, religion, the threat of ostracism....  The complete family of a single female who had the audacity to give birth to a child was shunned, ostracized, disgraced, stigmatized... hence, pressured into getting rid of the evidence (the product or commodity or child) of brazenly having engaged in the sex act.  Only after giving the "illegitimate" bastard (We didn't say it, your neighbors, your society, said it!) to others is the family accepted back into society, however minimally.  But, this acceptance is only an illusion; they would still be considered forever "trailer [park] trash."  (Don't get mad at us.  We didn't say it, your society says it.)  It wasn't so much that anyone cared really about a single female engaging in the sex act so much; it was the audacity of a child, a reward, a gift, being bestowed on the single mom by the Creator of all of us that was so objectionable and that produced cyclopean envy... when there were so many infertile married couples who followed the rules....  (Well - we take that back - your illustrious society WAS consumed with the sex habits of their neighbors; people habitually counted backwards 9 months from the birth of a married couple's 1st child to deduce whether the couple had engaged in sex before marriage.)

Of course, far too many people still have their hands, and expectations, out - too many people still shamefully and perfervidly attempt to separate vulnerable families - it's easy to pounce on the vulnerable - but the image of Robert Dole, attorney, U.S. Senator, and 1996 Republican presidential nominee, in a television ad encouraging society dismally remains embedded in our minds, he urged, "Come on, gang!  [Wink.  Wink.]  Let's all unite!  Let's get the stigma back into single motherhood!  Let's ostracize the single mom!" 

As recently as August 19, 2009, Bernie Goldberg, 10-time award winning American writer, journalist, and political commentator, told Fox News' Bill O'Reilly that single mom, Nadya Suleman and her 14 children are crap.  They were, perhaps, discussing an upcoming television special about Nadya.

Is this the intelligent, respectful, dignified loquacity of a reputable commentator on primetime television for children to hear or overhear  (overhear banter at the dinner table which they could then take to the playground)!?  What kind of a human being, a professional, would call a mom, and 14 innocent children (gifts from God) - crap!?  Had Nadya Suleman been married, we believe that Mr. Goldberg wouldn't have dared eject his vitriolic prejudice!

Pairs that have had multiple births have been in the news and we haven't observed any venom spewed toward these married couples.
